The weekly billing summary provides a detailed breakdown of your Upwork spending by week, organized into hourly, fixed-price, and manual payments. It shows payments on logged hours, total charges, bonuses, and salaries, with all times standardized to UTC for consistency across reports.

What's the weekly billing summary?

The weekly summary is a week-by-week breakdown of your spending, broken down into three sections: weekly summary, hourly, and fixed-price and other payments.

Note:

All times are based on UTC so that payments and reports are consistent.

How do I read the weekly summary?

The weekly summary overview section displays spend totals by contract type:

  • Time logged using the Upwork Desktop App is listed as Hourly
  • Time added manually by your freelancers is listed as Manual time
  • Weekly salary, bonuses, and other manual payments will be listed as Fixed-price and other.

The hourly section displays the breakdown by contract for the time your freelancers logged the previous week, with the number of hours worked and the total charge for each contract.

The fixed-price and other section displays the charges for each contract, including payments on fixed-price contracts as well as other manual payments, like a one-time contract bonus or recurring weekly salary.

Who has view access to the weekly summary?

Team members with "Hiring - Full" or "View Work Diaries" permissions can access the weekly summary. Users with work diary access can only view the time logged and do not have visibility into spending.
