Upwork allows one user account to manage multiple companies, each with separate jobs, payment methods, and reports. This is ideal if you hire for different businesses. Companies remain fully independent and cannot be merged later. Create a new company via Settings › My Info › Create New Account.


You can only have one account, but you can use that account to create more than one company. This is one of the ways we give you the flexibility to achieve multiple goals on Upwork.

When to create another company

If you are hiring on behalf of multiple businesses (like your day job and a personal venture), you should create another company instead of another team. However, companies can’t be combined later, so don’t create another one unless you are absolutely certain this is what you need.

How multiple companies work

Each company will be completely separate and you'll switch between them using a drop-down account selector. You will have separate payment methods, reports, jobs, and work histories for each company, and these can’t be shared across companies.

To create another company:

  1. Go to SettingsMy Info and choose the Create New Account option at the bottom
  2. Choose New Client Account and fill out the form
