✓ The Upwork Conversion Fee

Have more questions? Submit a request

Enterprise clients, like all clients, have the option to convert a freelancer or agency contract into a direct relationships outside the platform via a contract conversion process. This requires a one-time fee, outlined in the Enterprise agreement. Enterprise clients can initiate the process and get support through their Enterprise Support team, which also manages invoicing and provides guidance.

Sometimes, clients and freelancers who have met through Upwork wish to work together directly outside of Upwork. We provide the option to do this with a one-time payment of the Upwork Conversion Fee. We call this process “contract conversion."

Converting a freelancer or agency contract

If you're an Enterprise client and want to convert a freelancer or agency to a direct relationship outside of Upwork, your conversion fee will follow the terms in your Enterprise agreement.

How it works:

  • The fee amount is defined in your Enterprise contract (it’s not the same for every client)
  • Our Enterprise billing team will handle invoicing for the fee once the conversion is approved
  • To start the process, just reach out to your Enterprise Support team. They’ll help guide you through the steps and coordinate the details with the right teams

Need help finding your agreement or understanding what’s included? Enterprise Support can walk you through that too!
